Our Favorite Indoor Plants for Low Light
Many people want to grow plants indoors because it’s a great source of oxygen, plus they are amazing as decorations too. The challenge here is that there’s not a lot of natural light or that much light at all in an apartment, for example. Thankfully, there are some plants that actively thrive in low light environments. Which makes you wonder, what indoor plants are suitable for indoor light? Here you have a list with some of the best!
Aglaonema

One of the great things about Aglaonema is that it’s suitable for pretty much any location without a lot of light. It also has multiple colors on its petals, like green, yellow, red and even some pink. Another cool thing to note about Aglaonema is that it can resist drought too, so there’s no need to water it very often.
Peace Lily

The Peace Lily has a very interesting look, and it grows even in dark areas. However, this is a plant that needs to be humid and moist, so it does need watering from time to time. That being said, misting the leaves is also an important thing to keep in mind. It’s definitely worth the investment, so try to use it as an advantage.
Snake Plant

In case you want a plant that fits well in areas like corners, bathrooms or stairways, this is it. The Snake Plant is actually a succulent, so it retains water in its leaves. Just check its soil from time to time, generally it needs water every 3 weeks. As for indoor light, not that much is needed either.
Silver Satin

There are lots of great things to note about Silver Satin. It looks great, it doesn’t need a lot of maintenance, and it doesn’t require more than just a small ceramic pot. But it does provide great coloring, and that alone is definitely worth it.
Areca Palm

People love the Areca Palm because it looks great, it’s pet friendly, and it doesn’t need a ton of care and attention. It’s one of the low maintenance plants that still delivers an amazing experience, without having to spend a lot of money. Another advantage here is that you only have to water it once a week. That makes it a great option if you don’t really have a lot of time to take good care of plants.
Peperomia Ginny

Peperomia Ginny is one of the coolest indoor plants for a lot of people, because it needs light care and little water every week. With that in mind, it’s very short too, so you can easily fit it even if you live in a smaller apartment. It’s a classic, great plant that everyone will love since it purifies the air very well.
Parlor Palm

A lot of people enjoy the Parlor Palm mainly because it’s a slow grower, you don’t have to water it very often, and it just needs light care. The fact that it grows really slowly is amazing, since it conveys a very good result and you can enjoy it even if you have a busy schedule.
Dragon Tree

We like the Dragon Tree a lot because it’s one of the most interesting, visually impressive indoor plants for low light. It looks great, and you will be impressed with the vibe and setting that it brings to the table. It’s not a pet-friendly plant, so you definitely need to take that into consideration. It doesn’t require a lot of water, and generally it’s a plant you can care for with great ease, which is super impressive.
Glacier English Ivy

Although the Glacier English Ivy is not a very common plant, it does look incredible and it works great even if you don’t have a lot of light. There are different sizes to go for, though it may die from overwatering. So you don’t really need to water it often, as it’s actually bad for the plant.
Rubber Tree Ruby

When you see the Rubber Tree Ruby, the first thing you will notice is that it’s hardy, and with some bright coloring. It grows ok in regions with low light, but if you can offer some medium light, that’s where it will thrive. It’s not pet-friendly though, so keep that in mind. Ideally you want to clean the leaves from time to time, so the plant will get the sun that it needs.
Spider Plant 'Bonnie'

Right off the bat, this spider plant looks incredible and it definitely stands out if you want to decorate your home with cool plants. Indirect or low light will be ok for it, and as with many other plants on this list, you just have to water it once a week, then it will be more than ok.
Cordatum Heartleaf

The Cordatum Heartleaf has a very intricate design, and it’s a common plant for the coastal side of Brazil. It does like to climb on anything in front of it, so you may have to create a climbing system near its pot if possible. This is also not suitable for pets, so keep that in mind.
Pothos Satin

Even if the Pothos Satin is a low light plant, it looks amazing and it does impress with its visuals. It’s known for being an air purifying plant, and it grows indoors very well. That being said, it’s a good option for beginners, especially if you don’t want to water it often!
Conclusion
As you can see, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to finding the right indoor plants for low light. There will always be a variety of different plants that thrive indoors, even if you have little to no light. Most of these also have minimal maintenance requirements too, so you will be impressed with the results that they bring to the table. All you have to do is give them a try for yourself, and you will be very happy with the experience and how great your home will look with them inside it.
