8 Plants That Will Thrive In Your Bathroom

Houseplants have invaded several parts of our houses, we have it in our living room, our kitchen, our bedroom, and we may even have one in our office as well. But, moreover, there is also one more place where some of you may not have discovered placing them yet but is actually a really great place to put our houseplants to. That is the BATHROOM!
Just because you don’t spend most of your time here doesn’t mean that this place can just be plain and boring. Putting a plant in your bathroom can liven up the area. Plus, it gives off a spa-like vibe and makes you feel relaxed. In addition to that, the bathroom is also an excellent environment for your plants to grow and prosper. The warmth and humidity that this gives are just what plants are looking for. Also, one great thing about placing them in bathrooms is that if you need to provide them with water, it’s easily accessible.

1. Peace Lily

From the name Peace lily, You might think that this plant is a true lily, but it's not because it comes from the Araceae family and not Liliaceae. The peace lily is a plant known for being low maintenance and also a tolerant plant. They are great air-purifying plants, houseplants in the bathroom, and any other part of the house. These plants love indirect light, and they usually are only grown inside the house, so a bathroom with a window that gets a decent amount of light is a perfect location. The peace lily enjoys great showering but also wants to be left to dry as well.

2. Bird's Nest Leslie Fern

Another plant that would liven up your bathroom when placed there. Maybe called Asplenium Nidus sometimes but is commonly known as Bird's nest fern because it looks like a bird’s nest, especially when it grows large. It is a great bathroom houseplant that does particularly better in lower light conditions. In addition, they can handle warmth and humidity in a moist environment.

3. Tillandsias

The air plants are a great addition to your houseplants in the bathroom. They prefer to be placed in a soil-free hanging pot or globe. They also do not need too much sunlight, so there is no need to worry if your bathroom only has a small window. Placing them in an area where they get direct contact with sunlight might cause the leaves of your air plants to burn. The ideal placement is within a foot or two of a window or artificial light source.

4. English Ivy

The English Ivy is a quick trailing plant that can either cover the ground or your wall wherever it is placed. This particular plant can grow in shaded areas, so it is an excellent plant to place in your bathroom.  It grows in medium to high humidity and may also bear flowers. It is recommended that you put it in a hanging pot to achieve the vining effect from this plant.

5. ZZ Plant

This plant is one of the famous plants known for its broad green leaves and long thick stem. This plant is also considered one of the hard-to-kill plants for it can thrive in low light conditions and go for weeks without having water. This is an excellent houseplant for your bathroom, especially if you do not have a window to absorb light from minimum sources, not to mention the air-purifying characteristics that this plant possesses. Getting this plant for your bathroom is a win!

6. Dieffenbachia or Dumb Cane

This plant got its name from the speechlessness it causes whenever a person or animal chews on the plant’s stem. The plant’s extract causes the mouth to swell so bad that it leads to the inability to talk. So this plant is best kept out of reach from children and furry friends. But aside from that, they are beautiful plants with significant and showy leaves that make a great houseplant in the bathroom. It is best placed in a large bathroom and with a window that gets adequate sunlight. This Dieffenbachia is one of the plants that can grow several feet tall and likes to stay moist.

7. Parlor Palm

The Parlor Palm is one of the genuinely majestic plants perfect for adding to your bathroom to give it more accent. When properly cared for, they can grow up to 6 feet tall. They love humidity, so it is best to put them in a large bathroom that gets a lot of sunlight. The moisture coming from the bathroom helps them keep their leaves green and fresh. They love humidity and will do good in well-lit areas but can also tolerate low light conditions.

8. Chinese evergreen

This plant is an Aglaonema that also belongs to the Araceae family. It is one of the toughest houseplants that is beautiful at the same time.  They are known for being relatively easy to take care of, making them an ideal houseplant in your bathroom. They love areas with high humidity levels and can do fine in low light conditions, but they thrive in medium to bright indirect sunlight as well.
