How to Care for Dieffenbachia Plants

The Dieffenbachia Dumb Cane is another popular houseplant loved by the masses. It is easy to care for and a rewarding plant to grow. 

Follow this simple care guide and turn that thumb green.

  • Lighting: The Dieffenbachia Dumb Cane like many indoor plants can not withstand direct light. It does best in low light. We like to give our Dieffenbachia Dumb Canes medium indirect light. This seems to make them the happiest!
  • Water: The leading cause of death of Dieffenbachia Dumb Cane is over watering or poor drainage. Like many houseplants it is better to under water than to over water. We like to wait until the soil is dry 1 inch down before watering. We also like to make sure the pot The Dieffenbachia Dumb Cane is in has drainage holes to allow water to drain out in case of over watering. This also helps prevent root rot.
  • Temperature: If you are comfy, so will your Dieffenbachia Dumb Cane. We found that ours are happiest in temperatures between 65-75 F. If temperatures get below 60 F the plant will show signs of harm.
