How to Care for Marimo (Aquatic) Houseplants

Their new found fame is no surprise. Marimo balls are just plain cool! One fun fact, is they are grown naturally in the northern great lakes!

  • Water: Water Marimo balls often and make sure to keep them damp. Tap water is fine for them as well. When the weather is hotter, make sure to water them more, and to not let them dry out.
  • Light: Being from the great lakes, they enjoy cold and cloudy. Try to keep them in a cool dark spot. They enjoy low to medium indirect light and will tell you if they are getting too much light by turning brown. 
  • Temperatures: Keep them in a cool area, we reccomend between 50-65F to keep them nice and happy.
