The Essential Guide to Taking Care of Your Palm Ponytail Houseplant
Are you seeking for a houseplant that requires little maintenance and adds style to any space? If so, the Palm Ponytail is the perfect plant for you! This unusual succulent has a coconut-like base and long, swaying ponytail-like leaves on top. It's not only attractive and entertaining to look at, but it also requires little care and can withstand even the most careless gardener. Are you prepared to learn more about maintaining your Palm Ponytail plant? Read on!
The Palm Ponytail favors direct, bright light. Put your plant close to an east or west-facing window so it can receive a lot of natural light without getting burned by the sun. If you don't have access to a window, artificial lighting can be used instead. Just make sure your plant is no closer than six inches from the lightbulb.
You won't have to water the Palm Ponytail too frequently because it is fairly drought tolerant. Once every two weeks during the summer, while it is actively growing, give the earth a good soak. Reduce the frequency of watering to once every two months or less during the colder months. Don't overwater your plant; wait until the top inch of soil has dried up before watering it again.
Temperature & Humidity Needs
The ideal temperature range for this tropical succulent is between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and a little bit lower at night (around 65 degrees). Average household humidity should be sufficient; if your home becomes too dry during the winter, use a humidifier or spritz your plants from time to time with lukewarm water.
Remembering these three simple suggestions can make it much easier to keep up with the maintenance requirements of your Palm Ponytail Plant. Keep it warm (70-80°F) and humid, water it every two weeks in the summer and once or twice per month in the winter, and place it in a sunny area but not in direct sunlight (average household humidity should do). This unique houseplant will remain healthy for years to come with little effort from you and adequate care from it. Enjoy!
